Energy Infrastructure Hit in Chernihiv Region

According to Главком: Over 48,000 households lost power after a Russian attack damaged an energy facility in the Koriukivka district of Chernihiv Oblast. The outage affected residents in both the Koriukivka and Novhorod-Siverskyi districts, according to local authorities.

Ukraine's Chernihivoblenergo utility reported that 'preliminary assessments indicate over 48,000 subscribers in the Koriukivka and Novhorod-Siverskyi districts were left without electricity due to the enemy's attack on the energy facility in Koriukivka district.' Emergency crews are currently on site working to restore power.

Broader Context of the Attack

This strike is part of a larger campaign, as the previous month saw a massive missile and drone assault on critical infrastructure. On the night of June 2, Russia launched a combined attack on Ukraine using attack drones and air-, sea-, and ground-based missiles. Several regions came under fire, including:

  • Kyiv
  • Dnipro
  • Kharkiv
  • Poltava Region
  • Chernihiv Region

The incident underscores the ongoing attacks on Ukraine's critical infrastructure, which have severe consequences for civilians. Tens of thousands of people are left without electricity, complicating their daily lives and increasing regional tensions. Restoring power systems is a top priority for local services, highlighting the urgent need to strengthen defenses and protect strategic assets during wartime.
