Russian drones attacked Kyiv: casualties and injuries
Три людини загинули, понад двадцять отримали поранення внаслідок дронових атак на столицю України.

Drone Attacks Hit Kyiv on October 20

According to Рубрика — Суспільство: During the night leading into October 20, Russian forces launched multiple drone strikes against Kyiv, hitting residential buildings and key infrastructure. One of the drones struck a 24-story apartment building in the Sviatoshynskyi district, resulting in two fatalities and one injury. Another drone crashed within the transportation infrastructure area of the Solomianskyi district, causing a fire. At 11:41 PM, the Kyiv City Military Administration (KCMA) officially confirmed the incident in this district.

Throughout the day, the city endured additional attacks. On the morning of October 20, a drone fell near a gas station in the Holosiivskyi district, killing one person. Russian drones also targeted the M.D. Strazhesko Institute of Cardiology for a second time. Later that evening, a drone struck an energy facility in the Shevchenkivskyi district, leading to power outages across four districts of Kyiv and partial suspension of electric public transport.

Impact and Casualties

According to KCMA reports, 21 people were injured during the attacks on October 20, with 12 hospitalized and three in critical condition. By the evening, at least three people had died as a result of the strikes.

“Unfortunately, another fatality has been confirmed. Our condolences to the families and loved ones,” the KCMA stated.

The strikes inflicted significant damage, including a fire on the 20th floor of the residential building in Sviatoshynskyi, as well as fires in vehicle garages in the Desnianskyi district and a brick garage within a cooperative in Sviatoshynskyi. Confirmed targets included:

  • Transportation infrastructure in Solomianskyi district
  • 24-story residential building in Sviatoshynskyi district
  • Gas station in Holosiivskyi district
  • M.D. Strazhesko Institute of Cardiology
  • Energy facility in Shevchenkivskyi district

This wave of attacks underscores the severe risks faced by civilians in Kyiv amid the ongoing conflict. The targeting of residential and medical institutions highlights the continued vulnerability of the city's population. Ukrainian authorities and local government remain actively engaged in protecting citizens, though the threat of further assaults continues to provoke alarm among residents of the capital.
