Kharkiv Under Attack

According to Главком: During the night of June 20, Russian forces launched guided bombs (KABs) on the Kholodnohirskyi district of Kharkiv. The attack struck a two-story apartment building, leaving several people injured. Officials report five wounded individuals, including one woman. Rescuers fear that up to four more people remain trapped under the debris, with a child possibly among them. Emergency teams have already freed three people, one of whom was pulled from the rubble in serious condition. Two others were evacuated from the building's second floor.

Mayor of Kharkiv Speaks Out

Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov confirmed the strike hit a private residential area. In his statement, he said:

“In one of the buildings, a woman was trapped under the rubble. According to updated information, the strike hit a two-story apartment building. Four people may still be under the debris.” - Ihor Terekhov

This assault follows a previous attack that occurred on the night of June 19. Initial reports of shelling emerged around 3:49 AM, and by 4:33 AM, Mayor Terekhov clarified that a guided bomb had damaged roughly 15 private homes and a warehouse. The number of damaged residential buildings later rose to over 40.

While firefighters were extinguishing a blaze caused by a subsequent Russian strike, five State Emergency Service (SES) workers were killed, and at least five others were injured, according to Ukraine's Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko.

These repeated strikes on Kharkiv and its outskirts highlight the ongoing intense situation in the region, where civilians remain under constant threat from military action. The rising toll of casualties and destruction underscores the protracted nature of the conflict and the urgent need for measures to ensure residents' safety. In response, local authorities and rescue services continue working to clear the aftermath and provide aid to those affected.

The recent attack on Kharkiv is part of a broader pattern of escalating violence in the region, with multiple areas facing similar threats. For instance, recent strikes have also impacted Dnipro and Zaporizhzhia, causing significant damage to infrastructure and residential buildings. This ongoing conflict continues to put civilians at risk, emphasizing the urgent need for safety measures across affected regions.
