Shelling and Attacks Across Ukraine

According to Главком: On March 13, Russian military forces launched attacks in the Sumy, Kharkiv, and Chernihiv regions, resulting in civilian casualties and damage to infrastructure. These border regions have faced near-daily attacks since the full-scale invasion began. In the Hlukhiv community of Sumy Oblast, three people were wounded by shelling. The assault damaged more than 10 private homes and civilian vehicles.

In Kharkiv Oblast, a Russian strike hit a passenger bus, killing the driver and injuring three passengers. Separately, overnight on March 13, Russian forces attacked the central part of the city of Novhorod-Siverskyi in Chernihiv Oblast using a 'Geran' type drone. The target was a historic building housing the city library, where the attack caused a fire on the second floor of the two-story structure.

State Emergency Service (SES) rescuers surveyed the area and, fortunately, found no one trapped under the rubble. A community rescue officer from the SES also worked at the scene.

Consequences of the Attacks

These events underscore the ongoing violence and tension in regions suffering from active hostilities. The targeting of residential areas and civilian infrastructure highlights the severe and persistent threats to non-combatants. The response from rescue services, which included rapid assessment of the sites and mitigation of the attacks' aftermath, demonstrates Ukraine's efforts to ensure safety and aid victims. However, such incidents only reinforce the critical need for sustained international support in resolving the conflict and protecting civilians.
