Drone Attack Targets Kyiv School

According to ХВИЛЯ: A Russian drone struck a school building in Kyiv's Solomianskyi district, igniting a fire. Fortunately, children were sheltering at the time of the assault, according to Kyiv's mayor, Vitali Klitschko. The nighttime assault on the capital also resulted in one man being injured and caused damage to both residential and commercial properties within Kyiv and the surrounding Kyiv region.

In Solomianskyi, the attack set fire to the first floor of a 16-story residential building and a vehicle. Fires were also reported at warehouses in the Obolonskyi district. Additionally, the drone hit a non-residential complex in Kyiv’s Pecherskyi district. Ukraine's State Emergency Service (DSNS) reported that six people were injured in the Kyiv region over the past day.

Extent of Damage in Kyiv Region

The damage across Kyiv’s districts is detailed as follows:

  • Obukhiv district suffered damage to 24 properties, including 20 private homes, a power line, a retail outlet, and two vehicles. One person was injured here.
  • In Brovary district, four individuals were hurt, and damage affected three houses and two cars.
  • Bucha district saw harm to five private homes and two vehicles.
  • In Bila Tserkva district, two houses and an educational institution were damaged.
  • Fastiv district experienced damage to two industrial and utility buildings.
  • Boryspil district reported damage to one private home and one injury.

Earlier, on September 28, a Russian drone struck the National Academy of Sciences building in central Kyiv. Rocket drones also damaged two kindergartens and two schools. These attacks on Kyiv and its region resulted in three fatalities, including a child.

"The children were in shelter. Emergency services are responding to the scene," Vitali Klitschko stated.

These incidents reflect the ongoing Russian aggression, which continues to target Ukraine’s civilian infrastructure. Strikes aimed at schools and residential areas endanger the lives of innocent civilians, including children. Ukrainian authorities and emergency responders remain actively engaged in managing the aftermath and safeguarding the population amid these challenging wartime conditions.

In light of the recent escalation of attacks, including the tragic incident on September 24 that resulted in two fatalities and numerous injuries, the situation in Kyiv remains precarious.
