Mariya Yivzhenko, formerly of NV Business and later working in the corporate sector, was a respected journalist known for her coverage of defense technologies and Ukraine’s IT industry. According to her husband Danilo, the couple had recently secured a mortgage for a new apartment at the end of 2025 and were planning to start a family in early 2026. Danilo also shared that Mariya’s car was destroyed in the strike.

The drone hit a multi-story building in Kyiv’s Solomianskyi district, killing not only Mariya but also a 14-year-old Israeli boy. Seven others were wounded in the assault. These attacks have become a grim pattern, repeatedly targeting Kyiv and causing significant civilian casualties.

Danilo, Mariya’s husband, said: 'The car burned, Mariya died. I've lost my friend, my girlfriend, my wife, and the mother of the children we planned to have-children who now will never be. Mariya was brilliant, intelligent, and deeply patriotic. She was my voice of reason and the embodiment of care.'

Colleague Oleksandra Nekrashchuk remembered Mariya’s exceptional talent: 'She was not only a gifted journalist but an extraordinary person-bright, insightful, and profoundly sincere. Mariya had a unique ability to simplify complex topics and genuinely wanted to help her country.'
