Chesno Movement to Present Annual Study Findings

According to Главком: The Chesno Movement will host an event on February 17 at 11:00 to present the findings of its 2025 annual study, 'Monitoring the Transparency of Committees in Ukraine's Verkhovna Rada of the 9th Convocation.' Experts will analyze the openness of parliamentary committees, their compliance with legal transparency requirements, and the level of access granted to citizens and media regarding committee activities. The event will also feature recommendations for improving openness standards. This monitoring is part of ongoing civil society efforts to strengthen democratic accountability in Ukraine's legislative process.

Event Details

The presentation will be held in Hall No. 2 (2nd floor) at Ukrinform, located at 8/1 Bohdana Khmelnytskoho Street. The event will be moderated by Vita Dumanska, leader of the Chesno Movement. The topic of Open Parliament will be discussed by Chesno's parliamentary analyst, Iryna Korzhenkova. The 2025 committee transparency monitoring results will be presented by another Chesno parliamentary analyst, Sofia Lazareva.

The discussion will include participation from representatives of the Verkhovna Rada, specifically:

  • Oleksandr Korniienko, First Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine;
  • Yaroslav Yurchyshyn, Head of the VRU Committee on Freedom of Speech;
  • Mykhailo Radutskyi, Head of the Committee on National Health, Medical Care, and Health Insurance;
  • Viktoriia Podhorna, Deputy Head of the Committee on Digital Transformation;
  • Volodymyr Viatrovych, Member of the Committee on Humanitarian and Information Policy;
  • Volodymyr Kabachenko, Secretary of the Committee on Anti-Corruption Policy (awaiting confirmation);
  • Alina Zahorui, Deputy Head of the Committee, Head of the Subcommittee on Elections, Referendums, and Other Forms of Direct Democracy.

The event will conclude with a question-and-answer session.

The monitoring is conducted with the support of the International Renaissance Foundation in partnership with the Open Government Partnership's Road4EaP Action. The event will be streamed live on Ukrinform's YouTube channel. Media accreditation requests should be sent to [email protected].
