On the same day, Russian forces carried out strikes on Kharkiv and Dnipropetrovsk. The strike on Kharkiv occurred in the Kyiv district of the city, where a residential high-rise building was hit. According to preliminary information, there are casualties and significant destruction as reported by the city's mayor, Igor Terekhov. Also, on January 2, the Russian army struck Dnipropetrovsk, adding tension in the region.
