Salvador Nasralla challenges Asfura's victory in Honduras: Trump supports the opponent
Appeal of Salvador Nasralla
According to Главком: Salvador Nasralla has filed an appeal regarding the results of the presidential elections in Honduras, where Nasri Asfura has been declared the winner with the support of Donald Trump. The elections were held with a slight margin between the candidates, amounting to less than 1%. Nasralla demands a recount of votes in 12 out of 18 departments of the country.
The electoral tribunal TJE has given the electoral commission 48 hours to submit the necessary documentation. It is noted that about 15% of the protocols had to be verified manually, raising additional questions about the transparency of the electoral process. The LIBRE party, to which Nasralla belongs, has called for protests, labeling the situation as 'an electoral coup.'
Carla Romero, a representative of the party, noted: 'There were too many discrepancies in this electoral process.'
In the event that the appeal is not satisfied, Nasri Asfura is set to take the oath on January 27, 2026, which will be the next significant step in the political life of Honduras.
Political Tension in Honduras
This situation highlights the tension in the political life of Honduras, considering the slight margin between the candidates and allegations of electoral fraud. The protests initiated by the LIBRE party may lead to further destabilization of the situation in the country.
The consideration of the appeal and the reaction of the electoral tribunal will be important stages in the development of political events in Honduras in the coming weeks.
