Combat Engineer 'Scorpion' Killed in Action Near the Settlement of New York in Donetsk Region

According to Главком: Roman Huryn, a soldier known by the call sign 'Scorpion,' died on February 23, 2023, during a battle near the village of New York in the Bakhmut district of Donetsk region. He was 33 years old at the time of his death. Born and raised in the city of Berezne in Rivne region, he completed 11 grades at School No. 2 there. Before joining the Armed Forces of Ukraine, he worked as a builder on seasonal jobs.

Huryn enlisted in the Armed Forces in April 2022 and served as a combat engineer in the 24th Separate Mechanized Brigade named after King Danylo. During his service, he fought on the fronts in Luhansk, Kherson, and Donetsk regions. For his courage and heroism, he was awarded the brigade commander's 'Golden Lion' distinction, and posthumously received the Order 'For Courage' III degree.

Remembrance and Tribute

Roman Huryn's funeral took place on February 27, 2023, in his hometown of Berezne, at the cemetery in the 'Lukavets' tract, with full military honors. He is survived by two sons, his wife, parents, and a sister.
