Snake Robot Deployed by Ukrainian Emergency Services for Demining Operations in Kherson Region
How State Emergency Service Sappers Are Clearing Land in Kherson
According to ДСНС: Demining teams from Ukraine's State Emergency Service (SES) have been utilizing a ground robotic system called "Zmiy" (Snake) to safely clear explosives in the Kherson region. Since the start of their mission, pyrotechnic units have responded to over 30,500 call-outs, neutralizing nearly 72,000 explosive devices. This robotic technology plays a critical role in reducing the danger to personnel and speeding up the clearance of war-affected areas.
Public Safety Warning
The SES urges residents to exercise extreme caution if they come across suspicious items:
- Do not approach!
- Do not touch!
- Call 101 or 112 immediately!
Stay safe!
The deployment of the Zmiy robotic demining system highlights how advanced technology is transforming safety protocols in post-conflict zones. By minimizing human exposure to unexploded ordnance, SES teams are helping to lower risks for civilians and restore normalcy in the region. The agency’s repeated calls for public caution underscore the ongoing threat and the need for vigilance when encountering potential explosives.
