According to Главком: Ukraine’s Security Service (SBU) has arrested a 45-year-old man suspected of working with Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB) to plan airstrikes on the city of Zaporizhzhia. To blend in, the suspect disguised himself as an elderly person-growing a beard and wearing aged clothing-which allowed him to gather intelligence on Ukraine’s Armed Forces and pass it to his Russian handler.

A local resident, the agent had been evading military conscription before initiating contact with the enemy through Telegram channels. According to the SBU, FSB operatives offered him a monetary reward in exchange for the coordinates of Ukrainian military positions, prompting him to compile text reports with terrain descriptions and geodata. These reports were then sent to his Russian handler, jeopardizing the safety of Ukrainian defenders.

Raids and Consequences

The arrest took place at the suspect’s residence, where a tablet and smartphone were seized during a search. These devices contained correspondence with the enemy, as well as photos of targets that had drawn the attention of Russian aggressors. In a related operation, the SBU, together with the State Bureau of Investigation (DBR) and the National Police, also shut down eight new illegal border-crossing channels, whose organizers demanded up to $25,000 from clients.

The detained man has been officially notified of suspicion under Part 2 of Article 111 of Ukraine’s Criminal Code for high treason committed under martial law. He remains in custody, and further investigative actions are ongoing to ensure the security of Ukraine’s territory.
