Alleged Criminal Activity by Ukraine's Chief Military Psychiatrist

According to Главком: Ukraine's Security Service (SBU) has uncovered new evidence of criminal activity involving the chief psychiatrist of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. The official is suspected of laundering nearly $1 million. The SBU's military counterintelligence unit first documented instances of illicit enrichment in January 2025. Investigators have formally notified the official of suspicion under Part 3 of Article 209 of Ukraine's Criminal Code. This case highlights the ongoing challenge of corruption within state institutions during wartime.

Law enforcement discovered an elite apartment in a new building in Odesa, registered in the psychiatrist's daughter's name. They also identified a luxury cottage near Kyiv, registered to his stepson. Further evidence of illegal enrichment includes three late-model BMW SUVs (X3, X5, and X7 from model years 2022–2024), which were purchased and registered in the names of the official's children.

Operation "Enigma 2.0" Thwarts Assassination Plots

In a separate but related security effort, SBU counterintelligence, in collaboration with Ukraine's National Police Department of Strategic Investigations and Moldova's National Investigation Inspectorate, disrupted a series of attempted contract killings in Ukraine. The special operation, codenamed Enigma 2.0, led to the neutralization of a Russian operative combat group operating in Ukraine and Moldova. The primary targets of this hostile group were:

  • Ukrainian journalists
  • Public activists
  • A manager of a strategic enterprise
  • Military Intelligence (HUR) personnel, including fighters from the HUR's Foreign Legion
  • Andrii Yusov, Deputy Head of the Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War

These developments underscore the dual pressures facing Ukraine: combating internal corruption while defending against external threats. The "Enigma 2.0" operation demonstrates the continued vigilance of security services against Russian-originated threats to key national security figures and infrastructure.
