According to Главком: The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) has arrested a Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) agent in Odesa. The 48-year-old unemployed local resident was recruited via a Telegram channel promising easy money. Her mission was to gather precise coordinates of energy facilities to facilitate strikes against Ukraine.

The Agent's Primary Mission

Her primary task involved identifying and transmitting the coordinates of transformer substations and high-voltage infrastructure. Traveling around the city by public transport, she used her smartphone to photograph these targets. She also inspected the perimeters of substations to document damage from previous shelling. The woman sent all collected intelligence-including geotagged photos and reports on repair work-to her FSB handler via messenger.

The arrest took place at her residence while she was preparing a report for her handler. During a search, law enforcement seized two mobile phones. SBU investigators have notified her of suspicion under Part 2 of Article 111 of the Ukrainian Criminal Code, pertaining to state treason committed under martial law. The suspect is now in custody and faces life imprisonment with property confiscation. This incident highlights the persistent threat of Russian intelligence operations within Ukraine, which have intensified since the full-scale invasion. Previously, the SBU has exposed similar cases of treason, including one double agent who received a 15-year prison sentence.

This case underscores the ongoing threat posed by Russian special services activity in Ukraine, particularly under wartime conditions.

The agent's detention is part of a broader SBU strategy to neutralize hostile elements attempting to damage the country's critical infrastructure. As the war continues, Ukrainian law enforcement remains vigilant in countering enemy agents, whose actions can significantly impact national security.
