Seven Additional Odesa Beaches Approved for Public Recreation
More Beach Zones Are Now Open in Odesa
According to УНІАН — Туризм: The Odesa Regional Military Administration has now authorized seven additional beach sections for public use, raising the total number of beach areas considered safe for visitors in Odesa Oblast to 48. Of those, 47 are in the city of Odesa and one is in Chornomorsk. The decision gives residents and visitors more options for seaside recreation during wartime.
Newly Added Beach Sections
The newly approved sections are located on popular beaches:
- Otrada
- Lanzheron
- Arcadia
- Zolotyi Bereh
- Kurortnyi (two sections)
Oleh Kiper, head of the Odesa Regional Military Administration, announced the news on Telegram:
“We have approved the opening of seven more beach areas for recreation in Odesa.” - Oleh Kiper
He urged beach visitors to stick to safety rules and immediately move to shelters if an air-raid alert is announced.
Each beach can be opened only after it has been checked for safety, meets sanitation standards, and has access to shelters. Back in May, Kiper said he hoped the number of open Black Sea beaches would grow during the summer. However, on June 23, a drone attack on a central Odesa beach killed a 26-year-old woman and wounded a man. Dmytro Pletenchuk, spokesman for the Naval Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, pointed out that official approval for opening a beach does not guarantee absolute safety.
The opening of additional beaches reflects the local authorities’ attempt to keep the city’s seaside infrastructure usable under martial law, while still allowing residents and travelers to rest near the sea. Yet security remains the priority, and people are reminded to stay alert to air-raid warnings, as the risk of attack is still real. This underscores how difficult it can be to combine leisure with safety in today’s conditions.
