Mykola Sheremet: European Championship Silver and New Junior World Record
According to glavcom.ua: Ukrainian swimmer Mykola Sheremet won a silver medal at the European Short Course Swimming Championships in the Polish city of Lublin. Thanks to his speed in the 50m freestyle, he set new junior world, European, and Ukrainian records at 20.81 seconds.
Sheremet shared the silver in this race with French swimmer Maxime Grousse, who took the bronze medal. The gold in this event was claimed by Erek Gribar from Croatia, showing a result of 20.70 seconds.
Sheremet's Achievements at the Championship
Conquering the names of the strongest athletes, Mykola Sheremet broke several records at this tournament. His time in the 4 x 50m freestyle relay was 20.84 seconds. Additionally, in the preliminary heats for the 100m, he set a new junior record for Ukraine at 47.36 seconds.
Overall Success of the Ukrainian Team
In total, Ukrainian athletes demonstrated a high level at this competition, winning 23 medals and placing 10th in the overall standings. This performance was one of the most successful for Ukraine at the European Youth Olympic Festival.
