Strike on the Hlibove Underground Gas Storage

According to ХВИЛЯ: In the early hours of June 19, Ukraine’s Unmanned Systems Forces (USF) launched an attack on the Hlibove underground gas storage facility in occupied Crimea. Located near the village of Dozorone on the Tarkhankut Peninsula, this site is the peninsula’s sole gas storage operation. The strike was carried out by operators from the 413th USF Regiment 'Raid,' using Ukrainian-made middle-strike drones supplied by the company Fire Point.

The assault inflicted critical damage on the above-ground infrastructure of the Hlibove facility, sparking a fire on the premises. Satellite data from NASA’s FIRMS monitoring system confirms the blaze. The Hlibove storage plays a vital role in balancing seasonal and daily gas consumption across Crimea. Its functionality is essential for the operation of the Balaklava and Tavriiska thermal power plants, which supply energy to Russian military installations on the peninsula.

Additional USF Strikes

That same night, the Unmanned Systems Forces also hit several other targets:

  • a locomotive in Rozdolne
  • P-18 'Terek' radar stations in Zaporizhzhia and a 'Repeinyk' radar in Kamianske
  • fuel tankers in Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, and Luhansk regions
  • a fuel tank in Brianka
  • a Russian unit’s command observation post near Velyka Novosilka

Units involved in these operations included the 414th Brigade 'Madar’s Birds,' the 412th Brigade 'Nemesis,' the 20th Brigade 'K-2,' and other USF formations.

'Playing with matches is unforgivable,' said Robert 'Madar' Brovdi, emphasizing the importance of strike effectiveness.

The attack on the Hlibove gas storage could have severe consequences for Crimea’s energy infrastructure, as this facility is a critical component of the region’s gas supply. Damage to this site, combined with the other strikes on military and logistical targets, may reduce the combat readiness of Russian forces in the area and highlight vulnerabilities in their supply chains. These actions reflect an intensification of Ukrainian operations, particularly through the use of drone technology, which could shape future strategic decisions on both sides.

'Raid struck the only gas storage in Crimea. Strike, don’t whine-Raid unit,' added representatives of the unit.

The recent strike on the Hlibove gas storage facility highlights the intensifying military operations in the region. In a related development, Ukrainian forces have also targeted all bridges leading into Crimea, further isolating the peninsula's supply lines. This coordinated approach underscores the strategic importance of disrupting Russian logistics and energy infrastructure.
