Operation 'Crimean Switch off'
According to ХВИЛЯ: In the last 72 hours, the drone forces have attacked 13 energy nodes in occupied territories. Among the affected objects are five substations in Mariupol, the infrastructure of the Zuivska TPP, as well as substations in Zaporizhzhia and Kherson regions. SBS Commander Robert 'Madyar' Brovdi confirmed that during the operation 'Crimean Switch off', which has been ongoing from July 1 to August 2, 177 energy targets were hit.
Destroyed Objects
In particular, as a result of the strikes, five substations were de-energized in Mariupol:
- 'Myrna' (330 kV)
- 'Azovska-220' (220 kV)
- 'Misto-2' (110 kV)
- 'Misto-6' (110 kV)
- 'Misto-11' (110 kV)
All these targets were destroyed by the 1st separate SBS center. Also, in Donetsk region, the energy facilities of the Zuivska TPP in Zuhr were attacked, where fighters from the 'Wormbusters' battalion of the 414th 'Madyar Birds' brigade operated.
In Zaporizhzhia region, the substations 'Topolyne' and 'Makorty' in Berdyansk were de-energized, as well as 'Volodarska' in Mykilske and another energy object in Berdyansk. Kherson region also sustained strikes: the substations 'Novooleksiyivka' and 'Henichesk' were hit, with 'Henichesk' being attacked twice. This operation involved the 9th and 5th battalions of the 414th brigade, the 427th 'Rarog' brigade, and the 413th 'Reid' regiment.
The SBS Commander Robert 'Madyar' Brovdi noted: 'There are strikes on Zuivska TPP, Mariupol, Henichesk, Berdyansk, and others.'
He also reported that the total tally of the operation from July 1 to August 2 amounted to 177 energy targets in temporarily occupied territories. To monitor the results of the strikes, the SBS suggests using the online scoreboard 'TRACKING'.
Destruction of energy facilities in occupied territories is strategically significant for stopping the supply of electricity in the region, which could impact the military capabilities of the enemy. The operation 'Crimean Switch off' indicates a strengthening of actions by Ukrainian forces aimed at reducing the resources of the aggressor and increasing the effectiveness of strikes on important infrastructure objects.
The ongoing operations by drone forces have not only targeted energy nodes in occupied territories but also reflect a broader strategy aimed at crippling Russian energy infrastructure. For an in-depth look at how these strikes have unfolded over a longer period, including the impact on 83 energy hubs over 18 days, you can read more about it in this related article.
