Ukraine Strikes Samara Oil Processing Station Again, Targeting Russia’s Energy Infrastructure, Says General Staff
New Attack on Samara's Oil Dispatch Hub
According to Рубрика — Суспільство: In the early hours of October 10, Ukrainian Defense Forces launched another strike on the Samara Linear Production and Dispatch Station (LPDS), located near the village of Prosveyt in Russia's Samara region. This follows an earlier assault on October 7, when Ukrainian forces destroyed four large RVS-50000 tanks at the same facility, triggering a massive fire. The objective behind targeting the Samara station is to weaken Russia's military-economic capabilities.
The Samara LPDS serves as a critical node for receiving, storing, and blending crude oil transported via major pipelines from key Russian oil-producing areas such as Tatarstan and Western Siberia. At this station, oils with varying sulfur contents are combined to produce the Urals export grade, which supplies Russia's armed forces.
Ukraine’s Strategic Offensive
Details on the extent of damage caused by the latest strike are still being assessed. The General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces also confirmed that during the night of October 7 and the preceding day, Ukrainian troops conducted a series of attacks on Russian military targets, including an airfield in Russia’s Bryansk region. Additionally, damage was recorded to tanks, pipelines, and equipment at oil and gas facilities in the Samara and Astrakhan regions.
“Targeting such infrastructure is Ukraine exercising its inherent right to self-defense under Article 51 of the UN Charter and aims to degrade the military-economic strength of the Russian Federation,” stated the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
These operations are part of a broader Ukrainian campaign aimed at dismantling Russia’s military infrastructure, which includes strikes against:
- missile facilities;
- intercontinental ballistic missile elimination centers;
- drone launch sites;
- command centers for Russian troops.
By focusing on vital infrastructure like the Samara LPDS, Ukraine is concentrating efforts on disrupting the resources that sustain Russian military operations. Such attacks could significantly impair Russia’s armed forces’ operational effectiveness, especially amid the ongoing protracted conflict. These tactics highlight Ukraine’s comprehensive war strategy, which combines frontline engagements with targeted strikes on the enemy’s logistical networks.
These recent operations underscore a significant escalation in Ukraine's strategy to disrupt Russian supply lines.
