Ukrainian Forces Strike Ryazan Oil Refinery and Wildberries Logistics Hub, Fires Reported
Українські війська вразили об'єкти в Росії: пожежі на нафтопереробному заводі та логістичному центрі.

November 5 Assault on Ryazan

According to ХВИЛЯ: In the early hours of November 5, Ukrainian Defense Forces launched an attack on the Russian city of Ryazan using strike drones. The primary targets were Rosneft’s Ryazan oil refinery and the logistics center of the Wildberries marketplace. Multiple explosions were heard across the city, and several fires broke out within the refinery grounds.

The Strategic Role of the Ryazan Refinery

The Ryazan oil refinery ranks among Russia’s largest, with an annual processing capacity exceeding 17 million tons of crude oil. This accounts for roughly 5% of the country’s total refining ability. The facility produces gasoline, diesel, aviation fuel, and fuel oil, playing a crucial role in supplying fuel to Moscow, central Russia, and the nation’s military-industrial sector.

This year, the Ryazan refinery has endured multiple attacks and only recently resumed operations following repairs. Other major refineries in Central Russia, including those in Yaroslavl and Nizhny Novgorod, have also been targeted during this campaign. Analysts note that the strike effort against Central Russia’s oil refining infrastructure is approaching a critical point, with three out of four key refineries already hit.

These assaults on Russian oil refineries, especially the Ryazan facility, represent a significant escalation in the ongoing conflict and reflect Ukraine’s strategic focus on debilitating critical enemy infrastructure. Given the refinery’s importance to Russia’s economy and military supply chains, damaging it could disrupt fuel distribution and affect military operations. This development highlights the vital role of energy resource control in wartime and may further intensify tensions in the region.
