Ukrainian Defense Forces Launch Major Strikes on Russian Military Assets in Novorossiysk, Anapa, and Gelendzhik
Ukrainian Defense Forces Operations
According to Рубрика — Суспільство: During the night leading into September 9, Ukrainian Defense Forces executed a coordinated assault targeting Russian military installations in Novorossiysk, Anapa, and the Gelendzhik area. This operation resulted in the destruction of multiple military vessels, including missile carriers, as well as significant damage to aviation equipment and radar systems. Notably, a Su-33 carrier-based fighter jet and a Mi-8 helicopter were destroyed in Anapa. Additionally, two Russian radar stations, the Kasta-2E2 and 92N6-components of the S-300 and S-400 surface-to-air missile systems-were hit near Anapa. These radar strikes were carried out by the 1st Separate Drone Systems Center operating in the Gelendzhik region.
Between September 1 and 8, Ukrainian drone units reported eliminating 3,395 Russian troops and destroying 16,720 enemy targets. The average daily number of enemy personnel neutralized in September rose to 411, a 16% increase compared to August's daily average of 355. Russian forces have increased troop deployments along the Dobropillia front in Donetsk Oblast, a shift noted by military analyst Robert “Madyar” Brovdi as influencing the scale of enemy losses.
Impact and Effectiveness of the Strikes
Data released on August 24 highlights the successes of Ukrainian drone operations, which struck 66 enemy targets including:
- warehouses linked to the Ozon marketplace
- a MiG-29 fighter jet
- four radar station complexes
- two vessels from Russia's so-called "shadow fleet"
- a special forces deployment site
Furthermore, on the night of September 7, Ukrainian drone operators targeted a Russian military aircraft in temporarily occupied Crimea; assessments of the damage are still underway.
In the Black Sea, Ukrainian drones have struck 13 vessels belonging to the illicit shadow fleet. Since early July, a total of 282 such vessels have been neutralized. These ongoing actions reflect Ukraine’s sustained efforts to degrade Russian military capabilities, as evidenced by the rising number of destroyed targets and enemy personnel.
The reported destruction of Russian military assets underscores an intensification of Ukrainian defense activities, particularly through the strategic use of drone technology. The upward trend in daily enemy casualties and the volume of destroyed equipment demonstrates the growing efficiency of Ukraine’s military campaigns. This momentum is likely to shape Ukraine’s future operational tactics amid increasing Russian troop concentrations in the Donbas region.
