Over 277 km² Reclaimed by Ukrainian Defense Forces in Four Seasons of Operation 'Vivaldi', Halting Enemy Advance
Operation 'Vivaldi': Key Achievements and Impact
According to ХВИЛЯ: The Ukrainian Defense Forces have made significant strides through Operation 'Vivaldi', recovering more than 277 square kilometers of territory across four operational phases. Initially focused on eliminating Russian infiltration, the campaign evolved into a strategic offensive that inflicted substantial losses on enemy forces and secured vital supply routes in the Donbas region.
During the fourth season alone, the Third Army Corps and attached units reclaimed 101 square kilometers, liberating settlements such as Zelena Dolyna, Lypove, and Kolodiazi. Enemy casualties throughout this period surpassed 3,000 personnel, with total losses exceeding 8,000 soldiers since the operation began. Additionally, nine villages were freed and seven more returned to full Ukrainian control.
Securing Crucial Routes and Unit Contributions
One of the operation’s major accomplishments was defending critical highways, notably the Kharkiv-Sloviansk route, preventing the adversary from severing Ukrainian logistical lines.
“The main outcome of the four phases of Operation 'Vivaldi' is that we prevented the encirclement of the Sloviansk-Kramatorsk area from the flanks, avoiding a potential pincer movement,” emphasized Andriy Biletsky.
He further noted,
“We disrupted the offensive of the 'Zapad' group, forcing the redeployment of part of the 1st Tank Army units, which lessened the pressure on Kupiansk-Vuzlovyi,”
he concluded.
Several key units participated in the operation, including:
- 3rd Separate Assault Brigade
- 60th and 66th Separate Mechanized Brigades
- 125th Separate Heavy Mechanized Brigade
- 3rd Separate Reconnaissance Battalion
- 25th Separate Anti-Tank Battalion
- 21st Separate Drone Regiment 'Kraken 1654'
- 3rd Border Detachment
- 10th Mobile Border Detachment 'Dozor'
Air support was provided by the 'Lazar' group of the National Guard, K2 SBS, and drone units from the Security Service of Ukraine's Central Special Operations Department.
Operation 'Vivaldi' exemplifies the Ukrainian military’s adaptive strategies in modern warfare, highlighting rapid response and operational flexibility. The sustained gains achieved over four seasons suggest potential for further offensive actions and reinforced defense across other areas. This success also underscores the crucial role of international aid and advanced equipment in sustaining effective operations amid ongoing combat.
The success of Operation 'Vivaldi' underscores the strategic importance of territorial gains in the ongoing conflict. In a related development, the recent advancements by Ukraine’s Third Army Corps have further solidified these achievements, with significant liberations in Northern Donetsk contributing to the overall momentum of the operation.
