According to МВС: A large-scale mechanized assault by Russian forces on July 22, 2025, near the settlement of Shakhove was successfully stopped by Ukrainian defenders. National Guard of Ukraine Commander Oleksandr Pivnenko reported severe enemy losses, including the destruction of key equipment and personnel.

Enemy Losses

Dozens of armored and light vehicles were deployed in the battle. Among the destroyed items were:

• 7 tanks
• 6 armored fighting vehicles
• 2 multiple rocket launchers – a Grad and a Tornado-S
• 3 pieces of specialized equipment

Additionally, 123 enemy troops were killed and 29 were wounded.

Pivnenko highlighted that the successful defense resulted from coordinated efforts involving the 1st Corps of the National Guard of Ukraine “Azov,” the Special Operations Center “A” of the Security Service of Ukraine, the Unmanned Systems Forces, the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, units of the State Border Guard Service (notably the main unmanned systems department “Fenix”), as well as National Guard and Armed Forces elements operating on that axis.

This clash underscores the mounting battlefield pressure, reflecting stepped-up combat between Ukrainian and Russian forces. The ability to fend off such a large attack demonstrates the high readiness and coordination of Ukrainian troops, which could influence the conflict’s trajectory.
