Ukrainian Forces Regain Three Villages Near Lyman, Liberate 277 km² in Operation Vivaldi
Operation Vivaldi: Strategic Gains and Territory Recovery
According to Рубрика — Суспільство: During the fourth phase of Operation Vivaldi, Ukrainian Defense Forces reclaimed control over three key settlements along the Lyman axis: Zelena Dolyna, Lypove, and Kolodiazi. Across all four stages of the operation, a total of 277 square kilometers and 16 communities have been liberated. The adversary suffered heavy losses, with approximately 3,000 enemy soldiers eliminated during this latest phase.
This latest advance added 101 square kilometers to the territory recovered in phase four alone, while overall enemy casualties throughout the operation are estimated at around 8,000 personnel, according to the Third Army Corps. Importantly, Ukrainian forces secured the critical Kharkiv–Sloviansk supply route, preventing enemy forces from flanking and encircling the Sloviansk-Kramatorsk urban area.
"We successfully blocked the enemy’s attempt to encircle the Sloviansk-Kramatorsk region from the flanks and safeguarded the Kharkiv–Sloviansk corridor. The adversary failed to sever this vital logistics artery for our troops in Donbas."
Brigadier General Andriy Biletsky
Earlier phases of Operation Vivaldi saw the liberation of settlements including Shandryholove, Derylove, and Drobysheve. The first two stages contributed to reclaiming 125 square kilometers, with 50 square kilometers deoccupied during that period. The fourth phase also disrupted the offensive efforts of the 'Zapad' grouping, forcing the redeployment of units from the 1st Tank Army and easing pressure on the Kupiansk-Vuzlovyi area.
Units Involved and Operational Details
The operation mobilized multiple units from the Third Army Corps, such as:
- 3rd Assault Brigade
- 60th Separate Mechanized Brigade
- 125th Separate Heavy Mechanized Brigade
- 3rd Separate Reconnaissance Battalion
- 25th Separate Tank Regiment
- 21st Separate Unmanned Systems Regiment 'KRAKEN'
Additional support came from:

A notable innovation in this campaign was the deployment of ground robotic complexes behind enemy lines. These robots played vital roles in mine clearing, assault support, and logistics. On the Shandryholove front, robotic units cleared 30 kilometers of pathways without any casualties among sappers. The Third Army Corps commander, Andriy Biletsky, officially confirmed the launch of Operation Vivaldi on September 15.
Operation Vivaldi continues to reshape the military landscape in eastern Ukraine by securing strategic areas that bolster Ukraine's foothold in the Donbas region. Retaking populated areas and easing enemy pressure enables Ukrainian forces to focus on strengthening regional security and stability. This phase highlights the effectiveness of Ukraine’s tactical approach, combining advanced technology with coordinated combat support systems to maximize operational success.
As the Ukrainian Defense Forces continue their strategic advances, understanding the full scope of the territory reclaimed during Operation Vivaldi reveals how these efforts have effectively halted enemy progress and secured vital supply routes. The comprehensive details of the operation highlight not only the land recovered but also the significant impact on enemy forces, marking a critical turning point in the ongoing conflict.
