Families with children will receive more than one million hryvnias: a new support program has been approved in Ukraine

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has supported a draft law that proposes a radical increase in the amount of social payments to families with children. The central element of the initiative will be the increase in one-time assistance upon the birth of a child from the current 10,320 hryvnias to 50,000 hryvnias, which represents almost a fivefold increase in payments.

The document was developed by the Ministry of Social Policy in cooperation with the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Economy, and the Ministry of Education and Science. The draft law constitutes the practical implementation of the Demographic Development Strategy until 2040 and is aimed at stimulating birth rates through financial mechanisms.

The structure of the new payments includes several key components. Assistance during the child care period will increase to 8,000 hryvnias for all families regardless of their place of residence. Families raising children with disabilities will receive double support of 16,000 hryvnias.

The Minister of Social Policy, Oksana Zholnovich, described the initiative as 'systematic and truly comprehensive support.' 'We set ourselves the task of developing a project of systematic and truly comprehensive support. It will not be limited only to increasing payments, although this tool is also necessary,' the minister stated.

The 'School Package' Payment

A new program will be the 'School Package', which provides for a payment of 5,000 hryvnias to parents upon enrolling their child in school. This measure aims to reduce the financial burden on families when preparing children for the educational process.

The draft law grants the Cabinet of Ministers the authority to establish the amounts of certain payments, which will ensure prompt response to changes in the economic situation and the needs of families. This decision reflects the desire to create a flexible social protection system.

The reviewed draft law proposes a significant increase in the amounts of social payments for families raising children. Special attention is given to assistance at the birth of a child and support for families raising children with disabilities. The 'School Package' program is also introduced, which aims to alleviate the financial burden on families at the beginning of the school year. This initiative aims to promote the improvement of social protection for Ukrainian families and create comfortable conditions for raising children.
