Defense forces continue operations in the Bakhmut direction, as confirmed by the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syryskyi. In recent days, Ukrainian troops have advanced, regaining control over the territory. Assault units have ensured advancement from 200 meters to 2.5 kilometers in certain directions on the right bank of the Siverskyi Donets River.

"Yesterday, control over 1.3 sq. km was regained, with searches and elimination of the enemy conducted over an area of 2.1 sq. km in the Pokrovskyi district of Donetsk region. Assault units advanced from 200 m to 2.5 km in certain directions," emphasized Syryskyi.

According to the Commander-in-Chief, during the hostilities, 43 occupiers were eliminated, and the total enemy losses amounted to 65 personnel. Additionally, 11 units of military equipment were destroyed, including artillery systems, drones, and a motorcycle.

Operation Information

As of September 22, 2025, 164.5 sq. km of territory have been liberated, of which 180.8 sq. km have been cleared of enemy sabotage and reconnaissance groups. Control has also been restored over seven settlements and nine settlements have been cleared of saboteurs.

"The total losses of Russian occupiers in the Bakhmut direction amount to 2696 personnel, of which 1492 are irreplaceable. The replenishment of the 'exchange fund' for the return of Ukrainian defenders from Russian captivity is ongoing," the Commander-in-Chief added.

Protected Positions in Donetsk Region

The President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky confirmed that the Defense Forces are conducting offensive actions in the Donetsk region, while heavy battles for Kupiansk in the Kharkiv region continue. At present, there are no military terrorists in the city center, and Ukrainian troops are actively conducting operations to ensure security and clear the territory.

In the Kupiansk area, Ukrainian troops have damaged and flooded a gas pipeline through which Russian units were attempting to break into the city. The actions of the Defense Forces are aimed at repelling the aggressor and maintaining territorial integrity.

During the hostilities in the Bakhmut direction, Ukrainian troops advanced and regained control over a significant territory, inflicting substantial losses on the enemy in personnel and equipment. The president also confirmed the continuation of operations in the Donetsk region and the battles for Kupiansk, where Ukrainian forces are actively resisting the aggressor.
