Scandal in Ternopil Region: Teen Vandalizes Monument to Heaven's Hundred Hero
Incident in Ternopil Region with the Memorial to Alexander Kapinos
According to glavcom.ua: A 16-year-old local resident climbed on the monument to the Heaven's Hundred Hero Alexander Kapinos and posted a photo of this act on social media. This was reported by the Ternopil police and the sister of the deceased, Natalia Kapinos.
Natalia Kapinos condemned the teenager's actions and called on local authorities and police to pay attention to him. She wrote: 'I don't know what prompted my fellow countryman to commit this vile act. The face in the photo really wanted to be cool among the youth by doing something like this...'
The police received a report on July 12 that the young man climbed the monument to Alexander Kapinos and posted a photo on social media. After operational actions, law enforcement identified the offender, a 16-year-old local resident. The question of his administrative liability is currently being considered.
Memory of Alexander Kapinos
Alexander Kapinos participated in the Revolution of Dignity and belonged to the 35th hundred 'Volyn Sich'. On the evening of February 18, 2014, during the violent assault on Maidan, he sustained head injuries and died the next day. He was only 29 years old. Other instances of vandalism in Rivne and Bucha related to the disturbance of defenders' graves are also in the spotlight.
In Ternopil, the teenager committed an unexpected act that outraged the sister of the deceased and the local community. Authorities and police are taking measures against the offender, while the memory of Alexander Kapinos continues to live in the hearts of Ukrainians as a symbol of the heroic struggle for freedom.
