Ukrainians made one of the largest contributions to the Polish economy in recent years. As of 2024, their participation in the labor market and entrepreneurship brought the neighboring country about 30 billion dollars. This amount accounts for 2.7% of Poland's GDP. This was reported by In Poland.

How Ukrainians influenced the Polish economy

Ukrainian Ambassador to Poland Vasyl Bodnar emphasized in an interview with Delo.ua that the ratio of Poland's aid to Ukraine and the contribution of Ukrainians to the local economy is approximately 1:5. This means that every dollar of aid returns as five dollars of added value.

According to the embassy's estimates, the contribution of Ukrainians includes:

  • employment of hired workers in key sectors
  • entrepreneurial activities and creation of new companies
  • business projects that integrate Polish specialists.

All of this together provided Poland with an additional 30 billion dollars and was one of the factors that helped the country enter the top 20 economies in the world and surpass the one trillion dollar GDP mark.

Why Ukrainian workers became key

Bodnar emphasized that Ukrainians have become an integral part of the Polish labor market and entrepreneurial environment. They actively work in strategically important sectors for Poland, open businesses, and engage Polish specialists in joint projects.

The diplomat also emphasized that the real figures dispel the myth of the "migration burden". On the contrary, Poland's economy has received significant reinforcement due to the activity of Ukrainians, creating a mutually beneficial model of cooperation between countries.
