Potato and onion prices fell in September: where to buy cheaper

In September, Ukrainians have the opportunity to compare prices for potatoes, onions, and carrots in supermarkets and markets. According to the Minfin portal and the Capital Market, it has been found that the cost of these vegetables can vary from place to place. According to the monitoring results, on average in September, potatoes cost 16.43 UAH/kg in supermarkets. The lowest price was found in the Metro chain - 15.70 UAH/kg, while in Megamarket the price is higher - 18.90 UAH/kg. In markets, the average price of potatoes is 13.00 UAH/kg, with the possibility of saving about 3.40 UAH per kg. Additionally, according to the quote from here, in August 2025, the prices for potatoes were even higher than in September. Onions in supermarkets cost on average 27.50 UAH/kg, and carrots show the least price difference between various retail locations.
