Number of military pensioners of draft age in Ukraine

According to data from the Ministry of Social Policy, there are currently 635.8 thousand former military personnel and law enforcement officers in Ukraine receiving retirement benefits for years of service. The average retirement age is 51 years. Of this number, 145.2 thousand men are of draft age but are not in the army.

In our country, there are 145.2 thousand military pensioners of draft age who are not working, are not disabled, and are not serving in the army.

Legislation regarding special pensions for military personnel and law enforcement officers was enacted ahead of the war. These pensions are provided in the form of the possibility to retire earlier and a special formula for calculating payments.

Pension benefits for career military personnel and law enforcement officers

The law allows career military personnel and law enforcement officers to retire at the age of 45, provided that they have served for 25 years. However, mobilized citizens who are also defending the state do not receive any benefits.

The only benefit that a mobilized person may have is a five-year 'discount' on the retirement age.

The Verkhovna Rada supported the extension of martial law and mobilization for 90 days, although important issues regarding pensions for military and law enforcement officers remain open.

Ukraine has 145.2 thousand military pensioners of draft age who are not serving in the army, indicating a significant volume of this category of pensioners in the country. The legislation provides for a number of pension benefits for military personnel and law enforcement officers, but some aspects, such as pensions for mobilized citizens, remain open for discussion.
