Over 3,700 Homes Damaged and Population Shrinks by 26,000 in Sloviansk Community; Recovery Budget Exceeds 31 Million UAH

Current Conditions in the Sloviansk Community

According to Рубрика — Суспільство: By mid-September 2026, the Sloviansk community has suffered damage to more than 3,700 residential buildings due to ongoing Russian shelling. According to the Sloviansk City Military Administration, this includes 3,343 private homes and 366 apartment buildings, with some properties hit multiple times-twice or even three times. Complete destruction has been recorded for 10 apartment buildings and 217 private houses, while 9 apartment buildings have sustained partial damage.

Funding and Budget for Reconstruction

The community's 2026 budget allocates 31.8 million hryvnias for repairing damaged infrastructure and mitigating the effects of Russian aggression. Additionally, charitable organizations have contributed 7.7 million hryvnias toward recovery efforts. The Sloviansk City Military Administration emphasized:

"To address the urgent needs of repairing housing and other facilities damaged by the armed aggression of the Russian Federation, the Sloviansk community budget for 2026 includes 31.8 million UAH. Moreover, restoration work funded by charitable foundations has amounted to 7.7 million UAH."

Since the start of 2026, the population of the Sloviansk community has decreased by roughly 26,000 people. Before the full-scale invasion, the city’s population exceeded 100,000. By September 18, 2026, only 19,770 residents remained in Sloviansk itself, with 24,683 across the entire community. The number of children in Sloviansk dropped from about 4,800 to 1,775 as of September 17, 2026.
