The Employment Service will help Ukrainians in Sweden find work and plan their return

More than 45,000 Ukrainians currently live in Sweden, and the State Employment Service plans to assist them with employment and preparation for a possible return to Ukraine after the war ends. To this end, the service is beginning to collaborate with Unity Hub Stockholm.

What support Ukrainian citizens in Sweden will receive from the employment service

The first area of collaboration is consultations about employment opportunities in Ukraine. They plan to inform Ukrainians abroad about retraining, changing professions, individual job search, and grants for starting their own businesses.

The initiative was discussed by representatives of the State Employment Service and the chairperson of the Unemployment State Social Insurance Fund, Natalia Zemlyanska, with the leaders of Unity Hub Stockholm during a visit to Sweden.

The Unity Center for Ukrainians in Stockholm started operating in June with financial support from the Swedish government. Its objectives are to gather information about Ukrainians, explain their rights, and prepare training programs. Now, the parties are preparing to move towards large-scale consulting work. Ukrainians are also assisted in finding work in Sweden by specialized platforms.

How they plan to facilitate the return of Ukrainians from Sweden

Separately, the employment service and Unity Hub are developing a program aimed at making the return home after the war clearer. This includes access to practical information and collaboration with Ukrainian employers so that people can learn about job opportunities and professional adaptation in advance.

For now, this is preparation for future returns, not an announcement of a specific date or conditions for relocation. The parties also plan to involve the employment service in cultural, educational, and community events at Unity Hub to maintain contact with Ukrainians abroad.
