Fatal traffic accident in Slovenia: five dead, four of them Ukrainian citizens

A terrible traffic accident occurred today around 10:30 AM on the highway near the Slovenian Konica exit, towards Ljubljana. As a result of the accident, five people died. Initially, the Celje police reported four dead, but later the Main Police Directorate clarified that a fifth person involved in the accident also passed away. All the deceased are foreign citizens. This was reported by 'Glavkom' citing Delo.

According to the Celje police, the accident occurred directly before the Tepanje rest area. The Ukrainian driver of the van, which had seven people onboard, crashed into the rear of a trailer driven by a Russian driver due to inappropriate speed. Four of the five deceased, according to preliminary information, are citizens of Ukraine.

The driver who caused the accident sustained only minor injuries, while one of the van's passengers suffered serious injuries. A helicopter was involved in the rescue operation, which transported one of the injured to the hospital. This accident has already been described as one of the worst traffic accidents on Slovenian territory.
