Traffic Incidents in Obukhiv and Fastiv District Raise Safety Concerns

According to Главком: A 67-year-old pedestrian has died following a collision with a bus in the city of Obukhiv. The victim, who was crossing the roadway outside of a designated crosswalk, was struck by an Ataman bus driven by a 49-year-old man. Despite receiving medical attention, the pedestrian succumbed to his injuries at the hospital. Such incidents highlight the persistent dangers on roads in many Ukrainian towns.

A pre-trial investigation has been initiated under Part 2 of Article 286 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. Investigators report that the bus driver violated traffic safety rules, leading to the pedestrian's death. The charges carry a potential prison sentence of three to eight years, with the possibility of a three-year driving ban.

Second Incident in Fastiv District

In a separate incident in the Fastiv District, a 37-year-old man was injured after being hit by a car. The driver, a 53-year-old woman operating a Volkswagen, lost control of the vehicle and collided with the pedestrian, who was walking along the roadway. The man was hospitalized with injuries. These back-to-back accidents have alarmed local residents about regional road safety.

These tragic events underscore the urgent need to address road safety, particularly for vulnerable pedestrians.
