Award Ceremony for 'Hero Dogs of Ukraine'

According to МВС: The third award ceremony for 'Hero Dogs of Ukraine' took place in Kyiv, where service dogs of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine (SBGSU) and the National Guard of Ukraine (NGU) received awards for their service. These four-legged assistants demonstrated exceptional skills in capturing saboteurs and discovering weapons.

Awarded Dogs

  • Nick, a Malinois, and his handler Igor Zhohno from SBGSU, who apprehended over 50 border violators.

  • Gerda, another Malinois, along with Sergey Vlasov from NGU, discovered 18,000 rounds of ammunition, 127 automatic rifles, and over 15 kg of explosives.

  • German Shepherd Sandy, who together with Sergey Sistriak from NGU, has accounted for the detection of 19,000 rounds of ammunition, hundreds of grenades, and tens of kilograms of dangerous weaponry.

These achievements of service dogs underline their important role in ensuring the country's security.

Awarding service dogs is an important step in recognizing their contribution to combating illegal activities, including smuggling and terrorism. This event also highlights the importance of cooperation between humans and animals in ensuring public safety, which is becoming particularly relevant in the context of modern challenges faced by Ukraine.
