Social water norms in Ukraine

Ukraine has social norms for subsidized water consumption that regulate the volumes of water supply and sewage for the population. In 2014, a resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers was approved, which establishes these norms that define benefits for the payment of utilities.

Water consumption norms

According to the regulations, the subsidized norm for centralized cold water supply is 2 cubic meters per person per month. In cases where hot water supply is absent for more than 14 days, the norm for cold water increases to 3.6 cubic meters per person per month. The subsidized norm for centralized hot water supply is 1.6 cubic meters per person per month.

In addition, the norm for centralized sewage is 3.6 cubic meters per person per month. In cases where centralized sewage is absent and there are cesspits, the norm for waste removal is 0.76 cubic meters per person per month.

These social norms aim to ensure the availability of water supply for the population and reduce the financial burden on households in Ukraine. The approved norms create a basis for further regulation and possible changes in the field of water supply and sewage.

The significance of these social norms is that they contribute to meeting the basic needs of the population for water, which is an important aspect of the state's social policy.

In the context of rising utility rates, such norms can alleviate the financial burden for low-income groups. However, given the constant changes in the country's economic situation, adjustments to these norms may be necessary, which requires attention from government authorities and society.
