103 Ukrainian Defenders Are Coming Home from Russian Captivity Today
Freed Ukrainian Soldiers Head Home
According to МВС: Today, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed that 103 soldiers are returning home after being held in Russian captivity. The group includes members of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the State Border Guard Service, and the National Guard, who fought for Ukraine's independence in Mariupol and across multiple front-line sectors, including Donetsk, Luhansk, Kharkiv, Zaporizhzhia, Kherson, Dnipro, and Sumy.
Prisoner exchanges remain one of the few humanitarian channels in the ongoing conflict, and this release is a significant moment for the country. In his statement, Zelenskyy thanked the Ukrainian troops who help build the exchange fund and whose courage creates the conditions for bringing fellow citizens home.
"I am grateful to all our soldiers who replenish Ukraine's exchange fund and, through their bravery, make it possible for Ukrainian men and women to return home. I also thank the team that works every day to secure the release of our people. We remember every man and woman still in captivity. We are doing everything we can to bring all of them back." For families waiting for their loved ones, each release renews hope. It also highlights the importance of continued negotiations and prisoner swaps in ensuring the safety and eventual return of everyone who remains in captivity. Ukraine’s commitment to bringing all its people home remains unchanged.
