According to Главком: On May 15, around 2:35 PM, a tragic incident unfolded in the village of Terlivka, part of the Letychiv territorial community. A special police unit from the Khmelnytskyi region eliminated a suspect who had fatally shot officer Serhiy Chornyi. The attacker opened fire on law enforcement after being caught driving without a valid license.

The murder occurred when the man, attempting to evade administrative penalties, shot the police officer. Following the crime, the assailant fled and hid in a nearby forest strip. While escaping, he threw a live grenade toward foresters passing by in a vehicle. Fortunately, the foresters escaped unharmed.
