Joint US-Israeli Operation

According to Главком: US Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth announced that a joint US-Israeli operation resulted in the death of Iran's Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. Hegseth stated the operation was a direct consequence of Iran's refusal to finalize a diplomatic agreement, emphasizing:

"The Iranian regime had its chance to make a deal, but chose to refuse. Now it is facing the consequences."

The preemptive strike was announced on February 28. Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz declared the operation had begun, after which a series of explosions were reported in Tehran. Israeli Air Force jets dropped 30 bombs on the complex where Khamenei was located. This action marks a significant escalation in the long-standing tensions between Iran and the West.

Pete Hegseth underscored the gravity of this move, stating:

"The United States did not start this conflict, but we will finish it. If you kill Americans or threaten them anywhere in the world-as Iran has done-we will hunt you down and kill you."

Hegseth monitored the strikes alongside US President Donald Trump at Mar-a-Lago. He reiterated that 'Iran will never have a nuclear weapon,' echoing a long-standing Trump administration position. Khamenei's death was the result of a sophisticated joint operation, dealing a severe blow to the Iranian leadership.

Geopolitical Repercussions

This event carries profound geopolitical implications, likely leading to a severe escalation in relations between the US, Israel, and Iran. By rejecting the proposed agreement, Iran exposed itself to significant risks that could destabilize the entire Middle East. The operation signals a decisive shift in US strategy toward Iran, prioritizing preemptive military action in response to perceived national security threats over prolonged diplomacy.
