US Secretary of State's Remarks on the War in Ukraine

According to Главком: US Secretary of State Marco Rubio has detailed Washington's efforts to pressure Moscow into ending the war in Ukraine. He highlighted that the United States has imposed sanctions on the Russian company Rosneft and is actively supplying weapons to Ukraine, while no such arms supplies are being provided to Russia. Rubio further noted that the US is not imposing sanctions on Kyiv, a clear signal of support for Ukraine in this conflict.

Political Efforts and Diplomacy

In his remarks, Rubio emphasized the political efforts undertaken to make progress in resolving the conflict. He recalled that the US President's special representative, Steve Witkoff, has traveled the world multiple times to find paths to a peaceful resolution.

'The President has invested a lot of political capital in this. So we have many people who have put a lot of energy into it, and I think we have made progress in narrowing the issues, but... some issues remain very, very difficult, unfortunately.' Marco Rubio

He also expressed doubts about the US President's patience being limitless, though he declined to predict when that patience might run out. 'Do I believe the President's patience is endless? I do not. But I am not going to predict for you when it will end or at what point he decides to stop doing this,' the Secretary of State stressed.

Simultaneously, he mentioned a phone call between US President Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, demonstrating the continuation of diplomatic efforts from both sides. Trump expressed a desire for the war to end as soon as possible, noting he would like it to happen within a month.

These statements underscore the ongoing US efforts in the context of the Ukraine conflict, which include both military and diplomatic support. By noting the limits of the American leadership's patience, Rubio hints at potential shifts in US policy if the situation does not improve. Such comments may reflect growing concern over the conflict's duration and the need to intensify peace negotiations to achieve regional stability. The US stance continues to balance strong support for Ukraine with diplomatic pressure for a resolution.
