Stable Communication During Blackouts: Communities Will Be Able to Power Mobile Networks
The Government's Resolution on Stable Mobile Communication
The Government of Ukraine has adopted a resolution that allows communities to maintain stable mobile communication during blackouts. The Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine – Minister of Digital Transformation Mykhailo Fedorov announced a new initiative aimed at improving communication in conditions of unstable electricity supply.
Communities' Rights to Connect Mobile Networks
According to the new rules, communities will have the right to connect mobile networks to municipal generators. This will ensure the operation of nearly 35,000 base stations across the country that serve mobile operators. Local authorities will also be able to provide personnel for servicing generators owned by operators, as well as allow for the rapid installation of generators at municipal facilities without excessive bureaucracy.
“The team is systematically working to ensure reliable communication in every community”
Mykhailo Fedorov, Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine
Mykhailo Fedorov emphasized that this is an official support service for networks, for which no additional licenses are required. This initiative is an important step in ensuring communication stability when electricity supply may be limited.
This resolution is part of the overall efforts of the Ukrainian government aimed at adapting infrastructure to new challenges associated with the war and energy crisis. Ensuring stable mobile communication is crucial for citizens, especially in conditions when access to information and means of communication becomes critically important.
The implementation of the initiative may improve not only communication but also the overall safety of the population in emergency situations.
