According to glavcom.ua: The International Criminal Court (ICC) has confirmed that the arrest warrants for Russian President Vladimir Putin and five other Russian citizens, accused of war crimes in Ukraine, remain in force even if a comprehensive amnesty is adopted as part of US-mediated peace negotiations. This was stated by ICC Deputy Prosecutors Najat Shamim Khan and Mam Ndaiye Niang.

In particular, Mam Ndaiye Niang clarified that 'the ICC will certainly adhere to the Rome Statute, which does not take into account political agreements', even if the peaceful settlement implies amnesty for all participants in the conflict. Despite the possible political agreement, the ICC remains a proponent of upholding the law and rejecting impunity in cases of war crimes.

Ukraine has expressed disagreement with the idea of amnesty in connection with the mass crimes committed during the war, which cannot go unpunished. The question of the validity of the arrest warrants remains relevant, regardless of possible negotiations and political agreements.
