Ukraine Mandates Starlink Terminal Verification to Maintain Internet Access
Starlink Terminal Verification in Ukraine
According to Мін. Оборони: To ensure the security and stability of internet services, Ukraine will soon permit only verified Starlink terminals to operate within its territory. All other terminals that do not complete the verification process will be disconnected from the network. This move is part of a broader national security strategy in a wartime context where reliable communication is critical.
To verify a Starlink terminal, users must obtain its KIT number and/or UTID. The Ukrainian Ministry of Defense has provided specific instructions for this procedure. It is crucial to note that without successful verification, a terminal will be unable to connect to the Starlink network.
Verification Instructions
A detailed verification guide is available via a link provided by the Ministry of Defense. Users must follow all provided instructions carefully to avoid an internet service disruption. Starlink has been a vital source of connectivity in Ukraine since the full-scale invasion began in 2022, making this process highly significant for many users.
This policy is designed to help the government control the use of technologies that can impact the country's information space and communications infrastructure. By verifying terminals, authorities aim to prevent unauthorized use and ensure the reliability of these essential services for the population during the ongoing conflict.
