Senior Lieutenant Daria and Her Crew

According to МВС: Senior Lieutenant Daria (call sign "Hilka") commands the first fully female crew of attack unmanned aerial systems within the separate drone unit of Ukraine's National Guard, serving in the special purpose detachment "Typhoon." The team consists of women aged 22 to 26, who operate drones such as the "Mriya 4.5.0," "Otaman," and "Hopak" in their missions.

Before joining the National Guard, Daria worked as a marketing professional and was an avid target shooter. Following the occupation of Nova Kakhovka, she enlisted to defend Kyiv, serving as a sniper in a territorial defense unit. During active combat, she fought for Bucha and Irpin, using a ZBROYAR Z-10 sniper rifle.

Awards and the Role of Women in Military Service

For her bravery and dedication, Daria has received the Silver and Steel Crosses from the General Staff, as well as the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine's awards "For Valiant Service" and "For Courage in Service." This special project, "Women of the Ministry of Internal Affairs," highlights the crucial role women play in defending the nation and their significant contributions to modern warfare.

The establishment of an all-female drone crew marks a major step toward gender equality within Ukraine's Armed Forces. It also underscores the expanding presence of women in the military-a field traditionally dominated by men. The involvement of women in combat operations reflects evolving societal and military norms, as well as their vital contributions to national defense in contemporary conflicts.
