Why were the new rules introduced?

According to Majorca Daily Bulletin, many tourists are still unaware of the new law that was introduced on May 26. Tourists can be fined between 85 and 600 euros, while sellers face fines ranging from 750 to 1500 euros. Local authorities state that these rules aim to prevent the risks of purchases from illegal sellers and support legal trade.

Other fines for inappropriate behavior

In addition to fines for purchases, tourists may face penalties for various violations. For example, drinking alcohol in public carries a fine of 500 euros, while various breaches of public order can lead to fines of up to 400 euros. There are also fines for nudism or partial nudity outside the beach.

Moreover, the UK Foreign Office has warned against the prohibition of going out in only bikinis or shorts in certain parts of Spain. In Italy, tourists face a fine of 2,500 euros for wearing flip-flops.
