Property Insurance Against War Risks: How Businesses Will Receive Up to 10 Million UAH
New Property Insurance Mechanism in Ukraine
According to ХВИЛЯ: Starting January 1, 2026, a new property insurance mechanism against war risks will come into effect in Ukraine, supporting businesses within the 'Made in Ukraine' policy. The mechanism was enacted on December 1, 2025, according to the resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine No. 1541. This innovative approach aims to provide financial support to businesses affected by military actions.
Program and Its Conditions
The program is administered by the Export Credit Agency (ECA) and provides maximum amounts of direct compensation for businesses located in frontline regions, up to 10 million UAH. The frontline regions include:
- Dnipropetrovsk
- Donetsk
- Zaporizhzhia
- Mykolaiv
- Odesa
- Poltava
- Sumy
- Kharkiv
- Kherson
- Chernihiv (excluding occupied territories)
To participate in the program, businesses must pay a one-time contribution of 0.5% of the total potential loss amount. The one-time contribution for participation in the program is 5,000 UAH. Compensation is provided within 30 days after the application is submitted. The maximum payout for partial compensation is up to 1 million UAH per contract.
Andrii Teliupa, a representative of the ECA, urged all interested entrepreneurs to contact the agency for consultations to be able to join the program starting January 1.
The key components of the program include direct compensation for losses, as well as partial compensation of the insurance premium. This initiative aims to support Ukrainian businesses in the face of challenges caused by the war.
The introduction of the new insurance mechanism is crucial for the recovery of Ukraine's economy, which has suffered significant losses due to military actions. Supporting businesses, especially in frontline regions, is critically important for ensuring their viability and revitalizing economic activity in the country. This program could be an important step towards stabilizing the business environment and reducing the consequences of the war for Ukrainian entrepreneurs.
