Strategic Choice: Why Russia Surrounded Ukraine with 'Iskanders'
Russian troops have already deployed over 50 launchers for 'Iskanders' at the borders of Ukraine
According to hvylya.net: Aviation expert and analyst Konstantin Krivolap reported that Russian troops deployed about 54 launchers for 'Iskander' missiles at the borders of Ukraine as early as the beginning of 2025. This indicates that Russia is concentrating its forces on potential ballistic strikes against Ukraine.
The expert noted that the Russian side is focusing on developing ballistic missiles. Although Ukrainian forces have already inflicted some damage on these launchers, Russian troops are quickly restoring them. This highlights the importance of this direction for Russia in the arsenal of its armed forces.
According to the aviation expert: 'This indicates that the Russians are trying to focus on ballistic strikes specifically. And, in particular, they are emphasizing this with 'Iskander' missiles, rather than 'Dagger' missiles.
Krivolap explained that Russia chooses 'Iskanders' because these missiles do not require aviation platforms, unlike 'Daggers'. The limitations on the use of 'Dagger' missiles are related to the capabilities of advancing their use, particularly regarding MiG-31K aircraft.
The information provided indicates serious actions by Russia concerning Ukraine and a focus on ballistic missiles, which are given significant importance in its military strategy.
