Emerging Evaluation Standards

According to НВ — Техно: The integration of artificial intelligence (AI) is complicating employee performance assessments and increasing managerial responsibilities.

A survey commissioned by Monday.com and conducted by Nielsen involving 1,700 managers across seven countries revealed that AI adoption significantly complicates performance reviews. More than half of the respondents reported greater difficulty in accurately gauging employee contributions to company outcomes after AI tools were introduced. These findings highlight how evolving evaluation criteria and the growing number of digital tools are creating new challenges for leadership.

Impact on Management

Nearly half of the surveyed managers now spend additional time verifying work results and overseeing teams due to AI implementation. Following the integration of these technologies, 78% of managers have adjusted their methods for evaluating staff, and 57% noted an increase in digital tools within their organizations. Despite these challenges, 94% expressed interest in leveraging AI to enhance workflow efficiency. Additionally, 46% use AI to make more informed decisions, while 39% rely on it to prepare employee performance reviews.

However, AI adoption also raises concerns. Over the next year, 58% of managers expect to supervise more autonomous AI agents than human employees. Moreover, 46% worry about losing control over these AI agents’ actions, and 35% fear bearing responsibility for AI-driven decisions.

These insights underscore the urgent need for clear AI governance within organizations. Without objective standards, employee evaluations risk being influenced by biases inherent in language models, as demonstrated by a 2026 study from the Luxembourg Institute of Socio-Economic Research. This research found that language-based AI can perpetuate human prejudices if evaluation criteria are not well defined.

While managers generally hold a positive view toward AI, they must navigate complex challenges requiring thoughtful adaptation and response.

Introducing AI into workforce management demands a reevaluation of traditional appraisal methods. These innovations offer both opportunities and risks, making it essential for leaders to balance AI-driven efficiency gains with maintaining human oversight. Establishing clear standards and criteria is crucial to prevent bias and uphold the quality and fairness of employee evaluations.

As organizations navigate these complexities, the role of AI in transforming HR practices becomes increasingly significant. The shift towards automation and personalized engagement not only enhances talent management but also addresses the challenges posed by AI in employee evaluations. Understanding these advancements is crucial for leaders aiming to maintain oversight while leveraging technology effectively.
