According to Главком: A court in the Mykolaiv region has ordered the detention of Viktor Prokopchuk, a resident of the village of Plyushchivka, who is suspected of murder. The ruling by the Bashtansky District Court on March 18 stipulates that the suspect will remain in custody with the option of posting bail exceeding 290,000 hryvnias.

The killing occurred inside the village administration office, where the headman shot his assistant during a dispute. The woman died at the scene. Authorities who swiftly arrived at the location included:

As law enforcement stated, 'Preliminary findings indicate that the headman of one of the villages in Bashtansky district, during a conflict inside the administration office, shot his assistant, resulting in her death.'
