Lviv Customs Inspector Held in Custody

According to Главком: A court in Lviv has ordered pre-trial detention for Andriy Trush, an inspector with the Lviv Customs Service, who is suspected of fatally stabbing a military serviceman. The incident occurred on April 2 at approximately 2:15 PM on Patona Street. At the time, servicemen from the Galicia-Frankivsk Territorial Recruitment Center, alongside police officers, were conducting document checks on individuals eligible for military service. This case has drawn significant public attention in Ukraine, where attacks on military personnel are treated with particular severity.

According to Lviv regional police, a conflict arose during the checks when a 28-year-old relative of the customs officer attempted to flee. As a serviceman tried to stop him, inspector Trush allegedly retrieved an object resembling a knife from a chest bag. He then pursued the serviceman and struck him multiple times in the chest and neck area. The serviceman later died from his injuries in a hospital.

Arrest and Aftermath

Following the attack, the 34-year-old customs officer fled the scene by car with his brother. Trush was subsequently detained under Article 208 of Ukraine's Criminal Procedure Code. The arrest was carried out by a coordinated force including criminal police investigators, patrol officers, and other services as part of a special police operation. The State Customs Service of Ukraine has confirmed that the detained individual is an employee of the Lviv Customs office. During the court hearing, the prosecutor requested that Trush be held in custody without the option of bail.
